I have a 1970 C-10 that I plan on back halfing. To line up the new 2x4 frame with the old frame it will only be about 30" on the inside. I don't feel comfortable mounting bags this close together. I thought if I mounted the upper bars on the inside of the frame I could then mount the bags on the outside over the axle. Is this possible? If this is a bad idea would a wishbone be a better solution? I haven't had much experience with a wishbone but it seems to be the only other possibilty because the frame is so narrow. I may tow with this truck some and want to try to keep the bags over the axle if possible. I'm looking for any kind of input or suggestions anybody may have.

Why not make a combination 4 link mount lower bag mount then they can both be on the outside of the frame.

i agree then just bolt the bag in before you put the link bar on and keep the link tab close to the axle

are you set on doing parallel? sounds like you could do bags and lower bars on the outside and triangle the uppers on the inside. if you def want parrellel, then i think you could get it all on the outside. Would you possibly have room for a sleeve bag behind the axle? just throing out ideas...

or run the links inside and yours bags outside. your link is just keeping shit stable front back side side, the bags are whats going to mess with "handling" as far as your concerned i believe. haveing them outboard will keep it more spread out rather than so close together inside the rails.

I thought about the bag/link bracket. I am trying to keep everything as low as possible so I don't have to raise the bed floor alot or put a tall notch cover in it. I'll have to do some closer measuring to see if that will work. I'm just in the planning stage right now. 72 bumpside, part of the reason for the lower bars on the outside is so I can use the link bracket to also mount a panhard bar off of to get it as long as possible. Just a thought. I appreciate everyone's opinions. I had never seen a setup like this and wondered if it might work. The more idea's I can get the better.

You really should run the bars (at least the lowers) as wide on the rearend as possible. The narrower that bars are mounted, the more roll-steer is generated. How you decide to run the mounts is up to you.
