215/35/18 TYRE HELP! *hopefully issue solved*

Ive just recently blown out the side walls on X2 215/35/18s

Tyres are branded "HP166 clear"

My tyre man suggested stepping up to the next tyre size, and the tyres that I have on my truck cant handle the NC when rolling low as the stretch incorrectly

Just after a second oppinion, choose a slightly larger profile or a different branded tyre that has stronger side walls?

I opted for the smaller profile mainly for clearance

looks like you have plenty of clearance to step up to a 215/40-18 or you could possibly switch brands & run a nitto neo gen they have both sizes & i think the have a rim guard on then as well

215/35-18 is 23.9 OD

215/40-18 is 24.7 OD

Thanks for the reply man, thats helpful. But what I have heard from others the tyres that Iam running are a "cheap" tyre, so opting for another tyre company would be a wise move

I ran Toyo's in the 215/35 size on the front of my mazba b4000 for 2 years straight... No problems at all, other than camber wear. I would assume that the cheap tires are the problem, I would just step it up to a better brand name.

toyo's or nitto neo gens are the best for nc.

im running 215-35-18 on a set of 18x8.5 they are prety thin but they run good no problems i run the cheepest ones i can find just about 115 per tire

I have been looking into sourcing a solution and with some measurements I have decided to trade in my 215/35/18s for a set of (225/35/18s) Nankangs, which are better quality tyre and with a slightly larger width with more rubber which hug the rim how they should unlike the smaller tyre

Iam yet to ride on them at the mo as the truck is off the road for wheel bearing work

But here are a couple of pics

nankangs are H rated i would definitly go with a z rated tire. i used to go thru nankangs every2 weeks discount hated me
