Here goes,

I got a 90 xcab b2200 and it started acting funny yesterday when i go to start it. It was real weak when turning the motor over. So i went home and popped the hood and there was corrosion all over the battery terminals. So i took them off and cleaned them real good and put them back on and now all it will do is click. The starter wont even turn the motor over. I tapped the starter a couple times and it tried to turn over by stopped and started clicking again.

I though it might have been the battery so i pulled the red top optima out of my caprice and hooked it up to the mazda and still nothing, just a click. Is it time for a starter? Change the battery cables?? I have a new starter already, just wondering if i should change the cables first or just put the starter in.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Sounds like a bad ground to me. My truck used to do that if the terminals are really dirty or the wires going to the terminals have a bad connection. Double check all the wires.

I plan on checkin all the wires tonight.

Any other opinions?

Change the cables and the starter since you already have it. Chances are if you had real bad corrosion on the terminals it has spread down the wire. I have seen corrosion almost two foot down the wire from the terminal.

start with changing just your cable ends
