airbag/cpils??

i was talking with my dad the other day about bagging my '66 Cadillac and he mentioned that there is an airbag with like a coil spring over it. i don't really know what he's talking about but is anyone familiar with that setup? thanks a lot.

I think that is a helper bag that goes inside a coil. I saw one on a 79 ford front once. I would just do a bag and shock, no coil needed.

My buddy just got an old suburban and in the front it has cut down coil springs and in the inside of the coil spring there is and air bag not like what everyone thinks of now more like a hard plastic air blader that helps the spring stiffen up

and that works just like today's airbags? i'm just curious about this 'cause my old man is hinting that this is what i should use and i'd like to know more about them. thanks thus far.

those are just helper bags... they dont allow to go up and down like air bags do, they just stiffen the coil like ian said. just bag it on some slams or those new dominator bags, youll be happier you did
