whats your opinion on the best way? z the frame, or do it like the MT article, raise your upper control arm mounts up an inch and raise the engine cross member??

I'm assuming you mean for a Toyota. If not, disregard the following:

Just Z it. I've done both, and I'm not so much a fan of the moving the mounts now. In the article they just put a heim on the steering and put it on the bottom of the spindle, and it creates significant bump steer. To do it this way without creating bump steer, you need to move the steering box and idler arm up the same amount as the rest of the suspension. I did it this way, and it is a lot more work than Z'ing the frame. You have to move all 5 mounting holes up, and create a new mounting bracket for the steering box, clearance both frame rails for the castle nuts, and modify your drag link.

More work than its worth IMO. I won't do it again. I will just Z trucks from now on.

thanks seth that question was pretty much for you. and yes its a toyota. so z the frame drop the motor and section oil pan? im b/d 2 1/4" and the engine almost hits the hood any other suggestions?

If the engine is close already I would just Z it and drop the motor the same amount its Z'd. You won't have any clearance issues, and the engine will stay at the same operating angle.
