I want to build my son a go cart. We have a 5hp 2 seater that me and him ride, but i want to build him his own pimp cart. I have a new briggs 3.5hp, I guess Northern is best place to buy parts. My questions are... Got some pics of something you guys have built? Its for an 8 yr.old, so I want small frame that he can enjoy for a few years. Also, is there a good site with nicer parts than Northern w/o getting into anything too extreme for this project. Thanks in advance.

buy one of those engines made from billet from jegs, that are for the jr dragsters.....

I have an engine already..a brand new briggs 3.5 ( its for a 7yr old). I am really looking for cool frame/body ideas and see if there is a better parts source. Maybe someone on here has some stuff, I need wheels/tires, clutch, chain, sprocket, brakes...whatever..mostly ideas.
I have looked at those engines in jegs, they are badass.

I built a couple go karts when I was younger. Don't have any pictures left though.

But for gokart parts, look up Azusa and BMIKarts.com

yeah the little 3.5 is a lil small for a good size cart. Run a 6.5 horse

Check with the Shriners, they always have pimp carts. Lol, just messin with you. Have you considered making your own body from a foam buck fiberglassed over? After the glass sets up you can scoop out most of the foam and use gas to disolve the rest. I'm collectig pieces to put a cart together someday and thats what I was planning for the body. A 5 hp Honda won't leave you dissapointed in the engine department, I know that for sure. There is a ton of power mods for them, the Briggs motors are crude in compairason. Good luck with the project.
