I was woundering on the front of a 92-96 f150. I am tring to run 20's with a traditional body drop. the question is how do I do it? all the local shops around here tell me it cant be done, because of the lift issues I will run into with Ibeams. I have everything to put air ride on it. but I want the the bodydrop. if you could let me know what you think.

yes it can be done on ibeams im workin on a 94 sfbd set up for 20/22 but guys goin to runs 18s with a fat tire for while till money is right ull have alot of neg camber when laid and pos camber when lifted he tucks half the wheel an barrely clears them but rims on it now can turn all the way laid out so it doenst matter bout lift runnin slam re7 in front i have pics of truck if u want to see

The I-beam front suspension has only one redeeming quality... It's tough. Much like a hammer, I-beams have a limited range of abilities.

They can be baged to get decent travel, but it is by no stretch "quality" travel. If you plan on driving it daily, I would seek other avenues.

Your best bet would be to clip the front of the truck, I might suggest a full size chev clip...or perhaps custom control arms (not mustang II though ). There is quite a bit of room for you to play with in the front of those trucks...

Is that why the twin I beam pops up on some desert trucks Max? I've noticed a few long travel setups with twin I beams lately and wondered about it. (eg. the ranger pictured in Mike Alexanders editorial a few months back)

That question has two answers...

1. Some classes require the vehicle run stock "type" suspensions and so the eary Ford truck get stuck with beams.

2. Beams are the cheapest way to make travel. Although in my experience, an A-arm suspension works SOOOOO much better than an I-beam with more travel.

I agree. if its something youre going to be driving and plan on holding on to. it would be well worth the work to clip the front.
