v8 swap transmission questions

What trans are you guys using when you do a v8 swap? Chevy and Ford both. Has anybody went with a 5 speed and what did you do about the clutch (hydraulic or cable)? I really want overdrive. My ideal setup would be a 5.0 and 5 speed.

Behind a 383 stroker.

i got 302 with a modified AOD fits great(uses solid input shaft which removes lockup feature, can handle up to 400hp easy) i still have overdrive (.67 ratio in the AOD) but the converter will never lock up. . uses a TV cable that hooks to the carb for the kick down

ive have a carb 305 with a modded turbo 350 and also had a tunedport efi 305 with a 700r. thinkin of swappin to a 5spd and using a wilwood underdash master cylinder

Is the 700r computer controlled?

you just need a lockup for them....

the 700R4 is the same as the 4L60. and the same as the 4L60E, but not electronic. i think these are all the GM and Ford electronic trannys:

to use a carbed motor with electronic tranny, this is the kit maddawg is talkin bout. it's expensive, but i think i might use it:
