I want to make some new door panels for my ranger, and i want them to just be a piece of flat bare sheetmetal, with a door handle, sounds pretty simple...

But, i dont want any screws to be visible or anything... Is there a way i can add some clips to the back side of the metal or something? I know someone knows what im talkin about, i have seen a few street rods that are done like this.

Magnets?? ha ha j/k

how about you curl the top and side edges and weld a small rail on the top and sides of the door frame so that you can slide the flat sheet of metal down the rails and gravity will keep it in place. then get one of thos billit door openers like that dude that has a sheet metal interior nissan hard body.

i want to machine turn it, or i might paint it to match my truck, but on rangers the door has a slight lip about 3" below the window, it drops in, so i dont want to deal with putting anything into the window channel... Ill have to take a pic and draw up something...

I wish i wasnt so picky and i could just deal with seeing screws

Something like this truck, but im pretty sure these are just fiberglassed on, it would suck if he ever had to do anything inside the door...

On my Mazda I used sheetmetal and bonded it to the stock panel so it kept all the holes for the clips. Then we smoothed it all out so there was no lines to seperate the 2 pieces. I dont know if your are a similar style. Hope this helps.

I made a border out of 3/16" roundbar and welded the sheetmetal on top. The top of the door panel lays in the window track and im doing to weld some sheetmetal clips on the backside and let them snap into the door skin. You could also glue plastic "christmas trees" to the inside of the door panel and let them snap into the door skin like factory but I dont know how long they will stay put.

Do this..Get some U shaped washers..(i have seen them at home depot) and jb weld, (or weld) them onto the sheet metal door panel. Now get some plastic christmas tree clips that will slide into the channel of the U shaped washer, then just clip to the door...
