Soooo.... Spent today at a reputable Billet wheel manufacturer. They are in the process of now making Dually Wheels! They had a question for me, which I felt I couldnt fairly answer with input from other Dually owners. (ALL owners, stock, lifted, lowered, whatever)

They asked,
1. Would you prefer to be able to buy a set of Dually Wheels (prob 17"-24"), as a Direct Bolt on 8 lug wheel? or
2. Stay with a 10 lug wheel with adapter??

Input needed!

OK...GO!!

Either or..it would be convenient to have 8 lug wheels to direct fit if the price is reasonable. I thought it was crazy that you could buy adapters and wheels for what a set of Brentz direct fit wheels cost. But that's my opinion. I do like the look of a 10 lug better, but it would save some headache for people to have direct fit wheels. Would they make an inner wheels too?

Yes. They took measurements of everything on my Dually today (since mine is 3/4 ton rear. 3/4 ton spindle, spacer, adapter) as well as took measurements from a different dually with 1 ton suspension, and one with stock wheels...

I doubt theyre going to be cheaper than Alcoas, but we will see.

One clear Advantage with them setting all of this up is that they will start from a full "blank" canvas... Being able to cut any design they want!

I personally would like to run 10 lug wheels & adapters, but w/o having to mod fenders or swap axels...like Townasty wheels. And they would already be a true 22, not half sizes ?

I would like something that is direct bolt on but with the ten lug look. Maybe the 8 lugs can be hidden under a center cap with ten "dummy" lugs that allow you to change nut cover styles.

I personally like the 10 lug appearance. The bigger sizes in 8 lug look weird to me for some reason.

I am sure that they will cross this bridge when they get there, but our blank wheels are thick (made on the same platform as the 10 lug wheels) and on the direct bolt 8 lug the hub on the axle is not wide enough to support 2 of the aluminum direct bolt wheel.

I agree, I like the look of the 10 lug wheels, but I don't the fitment issues that you run into. I would love to see a 22" that you can get in custom offsets for your vehicle. It would make things a bit easier. I wanted to put some 10 lug wheels on the bus, but after i measured it wasn't looking good for them.

how about a super single in the back that they make a tire that will fit it. id kill for a 24x 14 or something that will fit the back. i don't care if its a 8 lug or a 10 ten lug. still gonna be enough lug nuts to make you insane.

Awesome Idea,

Much cheaper than our current options would be my suggestion. Some of us just can't afford $500 per wheel plus tires plus adapters plus caps and covers, at $900 per corner, or more, its hard to justify. Has made me really think many times about turning mine to a fleet side. I know everybody has to make their money but damn. I have always had the belief to price things reasonable and sell a ton of them instead of overcharging and selling less.

Or maybe I just gotta start slingin dope or something....

i hear ya man ,i admit the prices are a kick in the face. im sure if there was some miracle cure to this common issue with us as in wheel fittment, spacing, price ect., it woulda been done already.im all onboard the wishful thinking train though. but until then, ill continue to save for my semis ect..but always but as the saying goes...gotta pay to play.
