I was referred to you to maybe have an answer for me on this subject. I have a mazda b2600 and i'm backhalving it with a 300zx IRS and I want to do a cantilever setup. I really like the look of coilovers integrated in with the setup though, like mike alexanders truck. I've heard his can lock the bags at any spot and then his coilovers take over. But I was wondering if, for example, I made the canti arm pivot in the middle, can the bag push up on one side and instead of having a piece of tubing push from the other side of the canti arm to the axle, have a coilover in place of the tubing??? Would the coilover bottom out? Would they countetr each other and make the ride worse than if i had just bags and no shocks? Thanks for any help with this man!

This question is far more involved than you would initially think.

You can do all kinds of things, the real question (at least for me) is can it be made to work well?

If you build a canti arm with a shock in place of the solid bar, the suspension will act like it has no shock over small bumps and like it does have a shock over large rolling bumps. I would not suggest using a bag and a spring on the same suspension, as it is tough to keep things under control. Mike's truck works only because the bags are removed from the equation once the truck is off the ground with a lock out.

If you like the canti look so much, mount the shock on a bell-crank or canti arm and leave the bag mounted a little more traditionally.
