i went to install drop spindles on 91 b2600i and i got everything taken apart on the drivers side only to discover that i can't get the drop spindle to slide onto the lower balljoint. it looks like the taper of the hole on the spindle for the lower balljoint would require me to cut the control arm and flip the balljoint so that its facing upwards instead of downwards like it is from the factory. i know they are for a mazda because they are the same dimensions as the stock spindle and the caliper bolt holes and tierod holes are in the right locations. what do i do to make them fit.
i'm putting drop spindles in because i wanna be able to sit at the same height i'm at now but have a little more travel in the suspension for a smoother ride because its my daily driver and i drive on some bumpy ass roads
You will need the mounting plates that AIM provides with the spindles. The drop spindles use an S10 lower balljoint pressed into a plate that bolts in where the stock joint did. Flipping your stocks upside down will not work as the hole is a different taper.
the guy i bought the spindles from gave me different ball joints that look different from the stockers and they are pressed into that thick metal plate with the stock mounting hole locations. is that what you're talking about?
also, you won't be able to run anything smaller then a 16" rim. the steering arm will hit the side of anything smaller. they sayyou have to run a 17", but a 16" will fit....barely.
