Has anyone ever bored out a mazda motor? i know i know there turds and have no HP but i have a bunch of motor laying around and i have a chance to learn how ot use the equipment to build a motor so i wanna build a 2.0 block.

Only thing stopping me is, where would i find the right sized piston for a mazda block thats been bored .30 over?

i have a 2.2 that was i bored 40 over and it runs like a champ - i also did a cam, weber double 38 and full custom exhaust - runs more like my toyota now then a typical mazda - was deffinatly worth the effort

I have heard that some fork lifts use propane mazda motors, and that flat top pistons are available, I hav not been able to confirm this though.

that's just a quick lookup, but there's lots of companies that sell engine kits.

without sounding rude, but how do you have access to a boring bar & cylinder hone, but not parts?

also, just punching out the holes a little bigger (especially stock rebuild sizes .020, .030, .040) won't increase your hp without adding more air & fuel as in a cam or head.

here's a company that will grind you a cam if you give them a base & the specs that you want it.

if you're working with a great machinist like i apprenticed for then you can re-sleeve the block to fit any size pistons you want like we did. here's a company that will make sleeves to any specification you want:

good luck man!

Thanks for all the info i have everything i need now.

one more thing, youd recommend the weber 38? i have a 34/36 on my daily but its bone stock.

Go Total Source for the Forklift kits thats what I always use you can get several different bores and they jump the compression up as well. i did a 2.2 with the forklift kit .030 ovr cam header and made an adapter for a motorcraft two barrel ran like amothre fucker but I washed the rings out after about 30k because I didn;t change the jets in the carb.

Not to jack the thread but when boring 0.30 over on a 2.2 I know you need to raise the duration of the cam but what duration would be the best to have it raised ?

A minor cylinder overbore will not create the need to reprofile your camshaft Hotshot. You would be boring to cleanup the cylinders, the rest of the motor won't even know you did it.
