Iv been working alittle today on trying to get rid of all the rust on my T Top Monte Carlo and it is just over welming. There are so many little panels that are hard to get into that no matter how much i get rid of there is still alot of rust in spots i cant get to. So i was thinking of just cutting off the roof section and making it a full time convertible. I even came up with an idea to make a cover like the conv corvettes out of fiberglass. I dont drive my car in the rain now as it is because it leaks so much. So what do you think?
This is what im reffering to on the corvette

I don't recall ever seeing any of that era G-body chopped. There are tons of 78-81 though. I had a shitload of hail damage on mine and decided what the hell. A 12-pack and a sawzall will cure anything.I haven't done any bracing on it yet and all the panels & doors still match up pretty good.

The "waterfall" idea would look pretty good. If you don't already, get some low-back seats or cut yours down. As you can tell my facory ones look horrible and they don't recline. Post up a good pic and maybe someone bored photochop it for ya.

those are fill frame cars. the roof isnt as strutural in holding the panel alignment as a unibody car is. but, still brace it some just because.

They look pretty good topless, there is one around here not finished as far as I know, it was bagged, bodydropped, topless, and a lot of smooth sheet metal on the interior, looked good, but needed to be painted and finished.
