I just got done installing my rear speakers. They are JL AUDIO 5x7s. I did the driver side rear first and checked everything and everything seemed to be good. Then i did my passenger rear and checked everything and everything seemed ok. So i cleaned everything up and put the door panels back on and went to lock my truck with the keyless entry key and noticed that it beeped twice and the lights didnt flicker like they usually do. Also i noticed my interior light was still on. So i dont know what to do. I took the bulb out for tonight but i dont know where to start looking. I took my door panel back off and check to see if i cut anywires but everything seemed fine. Also i noticed theres a wire in the passenger side rear door at the bottom of the seatbelt. What is that wire? Maybe i caused a short in the wire when i took the door panel off. The speakers are working though. I used a wire harness to connect my new speakers to the current wire that was used from my factory speakers, Maybe i connected them upside down, Would that make a difference? I put the postive to postive/ neg to neg but maybe there is a specific way to connect them, maybe i have it upside down and its causing this problem. My dad says it has nothing to do with it and that i must of cut a wire or something but its dark out and i have no time to really look. Im looking for some help here before i go re-due everything tomorrow. How are the lights working? Is it with mercury. Maybe i messed up a sensor? I noticed that my interior head lamp was not on the whole time i was working on it except when i had the key in the ignition when i tested the first speaker. I think the problem is with the rear passenger door. but i dont know with what and if my warranty will cover anything since im putting new speakers in. Someone please help!!

I have a 2007 Ford Ranger SPORT (4doors) and installed two JL Audio Speakers (5x7)

I installed the two front door speakers last week and everything if perfect but now something is wrong with my lights. ITs like a door is left open. And the light will not go off and i cant set the factory alarm since theres a sensor saying somethings open/wrong.

If I recall, the door pin switch is in the latch on new rangers. You may ave unplugged a connector or run a screw through a wire.

but before you take it all apart, make sure you didnt turn the dome light on by turning the dimmer on the dash all the way up till it clicks.

mine started to act up on my 00 ranger having problems with the light staying on. i think i sprayed some kind of cleaner or lube in the latch area and open and shut the doors multipul times. and it stays off now

my 98 ranger did the same thing, it got real bad during the summer, the latch heated up and expanded, I ended up taking the light out

eh the light in my 02 goes off after 10 min. spray some wd 40 down in the door latch, if that doesnt fix it, take it back to the ford dealer, the rear doors get outa wack from shutting them and cause the same prob. could just be coincenidental that it happend after you put your speakers in.

just take it in and dont tell them you put in new speakers. just say it started doing it one day.

my f150 was doing the same thing and I had to get a door sensor replaced. it was closing but just not relaying it.

Well the latch seems to be working fine after playing with them for a hour & spraying wd40 and it still wasnt fixing the problem. SO i took out my new speakers and put the factory back in and it fixed the problem. So i think i might of hooked up my wire harness upside down. Its dark out so i cant do anything more so i just closed it up. Thanks for all the responses and hopefully i can resolve this once and for all.
