im looking at buying a bagged and body dropped 91 s-10 project my friend is in need of getting out of his garage, it has an LT1 in it right now but he is taking it out to put in a new project hes got. i have the chance to buy a real nice 454 for pretty cheap on the flip side .... in comes the question.... how much harder would it be to put that 454 in it? i know nothing about chevy anything so thats why this may seem like an obvious thing to most but not to me. he has the exaust set up for the small block, and firewall smoothed and painted as well..... what kind of damage am i looking at creating if i tried to put that big block in it? the rear end is already set up for that small block too..... i know i wont ever catch traction but thats not my question.

I helped put a big block in an S10 Blazer that was 2WD at one point. It got a straight axle swap, and the big block headers came right where the control arms where. The control arms and mounts had to be removed, and the top of the frame had to be trimmed down about 1" and plated for them to clear by about 1/4" with poly mounts that don't move much. And it needed a 3" cowl to keep the air cleaner under the hood. To do it and keep your control arms, the valve covers would probably be out of the hood, and your transmission would be an armrest.

chevy made one, just one, a 91 or maybe 92 s10 with a 454. it was just a test mule, I have the sport truck issue from that year showing the engine bay. It was full front to back and side to side. Yes they used special headers.

I think this guy will be one of your best sources for information. He has a 454 in a 1st gen Blazer. It's just static dropped though, not bagged or BD'ed.

I'll try and find the mag, they made a point of mentioning in the article about keeping the AC too.
