hydraulics and 4links

can you place the hydraulics on the lower 4link bar instead of over the axle? we're trying to avoid having so much stuff above the bed line? the 4link bars are round tube .250 wall

they did mike self's toyota like that and there was a writeup in MT on the build. I think they used solid bar, which I am pretty sure is weaker than thick wall tube. But they put the cylinders waaaay up on the front of the bars and it got something like 4 or 4.5 feet of lift.

what type of mounts would you use on a set up like that I am wondering? powerballs or a heim joint? to mount the cylinder, could you solid mount or would you have to use a coilover type? Anyone have pics they can post?

i would use square tubing and then weld a powerball to hold my cylinder. as far as coil over thats up to the individual and ride quality i would run the 4 link on the inside of the frame so that you can weld a bracket to hold the cylinder in place

saw that, the guy did an intense full tube rear and the lift was insane..... i guess it isn't any different than putting bags on the bars..... the bars need to be able to support the weight of the vehicle at the mechanical advantqage point.....bags or cylinders more stress is put on the bars the further towards the pivot point, so make em stout

next question is... can the cylinders them self be at an angle? or do they have to be straight as they were on installed over the axel, i was thinking of leaning them towards the rear a little.. one to keep as much below the bedfloor as possible. and two when the rear is lifted up the lower bar and cylinder will be at a 90degrees to each other, does that make sense? or just give me some ideas

4-links don't care if its a bag, hydraulic cylinder, or a coil over. You could put a water ballon back there if it would hold the weight of the truck, lol.
