just cut out a piece of plate same as the base of the stock mirror and tack some bolts to it, drill a hole for the new mirror, then you can take it on and off. I cut a piece of diamond plate to cover mine up with, easy as hell

I'm currently getting a set laser cut for my s-10, a little different than weld in filler plates because they're being bolted so i made the corners more rounded and where it covers the black trim a little.. there were no fillers for mine being a 1st gen anyway, but if your truck's the blazer in your avatar then im pretty sure 2nd gen has fillers available.

get a cheap set of aftermarket mirrors cut the mirror off and fiberglass it and bodywork it smooth. then drill a hole, add a metal plate on the backside(so it doesnt rip through) and voila instant plate to mount to and u can paint them bodycolor.
