keep a volt meter in the car and if it cuts out whip over to the shoulder and dont turn the car off but check your power at the motor under the dash... should be about a 10 gauge red wire that feeds the system... I'll take a look at my system tonight when i get home since all of the electronic steerign is laying in my living room at the moment lmfao

are you saying your having the same issues or you have your car a part for other reasons. i took it into the shop because i have a waranty(not a factory waranty) through the place i bought it but of course they said its not covered. there saying its the motor it self. but i read some where there is a relay that shuts the motor off if it over heats but when it shuts off the motor doest even feel warm. so what i was thinking(i could be way off) is that relay is bad

THEY DID HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE TOQURE SENSORS IN THE COLUMN ITS SELF..I HAVENT SEEN ANY MOTOR PROBLEMS..ITS ALL BEEN SENSOR PROBLEMS...AND IF YOU HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRENTY THAT WONT COVER POWER STEERING U GOT SCREWED..IVE NEVER SEEN ONE THAT WONT COVER LOSS OF POWER STEERING. IF YOU CAN GET A CODE I CAN TELL YOU WHAT WRONG.KENT TEXAS

yeah i feel i got screwed, my warranty covers power steering just not electric power steering . all i can say is WTF. if i get time ill run it up the road and have them get the code. the fuct up thing about it is when i took it in they should of ran diagnostics. i should of just kept my gas guzzling truck LOL

yep mine is torn apart for rebuild ride now not because of this but i have the power steering motor setting in my living room so i took a look at it last night... outside of the relay on them there really isnt anything user serviceable since its electronic proportionally controlled and stuff... i would honestly say check a salvage for one thats been rear ended cause im sure those arent cheap by any means.

My brother's girl had the same thing. The electric power steering goes out and you can't steer. He took it in under warranty to the dealer and they replaced the whole column. Then he went and bought a new XB

its exspensive, $600 for just the motor. its been 3 days since it went out, ill just deal with it til it stops working completely. the only thing that sucks is this car is our gas saver. i wont let my wife drive it in this condition since when it goes out it takes alot to steer.
