Hey, i was wondering if any of yall had a hookup on getting sponsored by an audio company. I'm not looking to get a kick ass system for free (although that would be sweet ass sweet), but i'm going to put a system in my burb and i'm trying to figure out what all to use and how big to go, i guess i'll have to buy a piece at a time like i did with the system in my s10 unless someone can hook me up. I can email a rendering of what the burb will look like if you need it. If not, no biggie, just seeing what's out there. Anyone got any ideas, or info on how to contact the stereo companies to ask about sponsorship? And what all is involved? I mean, will i have to have a huge ass sticker of my sponsor on my ride or something?

don't know if this will help you or not, but get ahold of john collett. his ssm user name is john. i know he was sponsored by mtx with project d.o.a.. i think he could maybe give you some ideas or maybe he has a contact that you could get in touch with.

ok, cool. Guess i'll have to stick with plan b. I'm not going to be able to go to as many shows as i want cause
1. i have a life
2. i don't anymore, i have a 3 year old, haha
3. my wife's a bitch and would throw a fit about going to shows all the time. a few shows a year would be fine, but if i have to go all the time, it just won't work. Thanks for the advice, guys.

Personally I think if you really want to earn a sponsorship you are going about it all wrong. The only things that I have seen work are professional looking sponsorship portfolios. I'm talking 8-10 page proposals that include not only a rendering, but pictures of past rides that you have built, a list and scans of any sort of magazine coverage you have received, a list of all the events you have shown at in the last 2-3 years as well as what you are willing to do for the company, stickers/windshield banners/ literature at your vehicle at all shows. A list of current sponsors or if you do not have any, other companies that you are contacting for sponsorships. If its possible, a letter from a photographer/magazine editor with an intent to shoot your vehicle.

All of this should be printed on a nice paper stock and in full color. Enlist the skills of a professional graphic designer to make your portfolio stand out from all the other people wanting something for nothing. If you spend a total of $250-$400 and get $2,000 worth of stuff for free/cost, isn't it worth it?

Or if you spend that money and get nothing, well those are the breaks.

it would be, but the only thing i've built before was an s10 that only i liked, and it's in pieces in my front yard right now, and it's been driven 5 months in the 5 years it's been bagged, so i can't fall back on that. I guess you're right, but i don't think there's any way i can make a huge commitment like that. Oh well, no biggie. Thanks a lot for the info, guys.
