what would you do?

so i take my truck to this shop in town, because i hear he is the best, a little pricey, a little slow, but the best. i give the guy a large sum of money. 3 years later i go and pick my truck up with a flat bed in pieces. i'm talking no control arms, no rear end and things cut all to hell. this guy is also a member of Negative Camber, so i figured he wouldn't bone me. oh yeah i also am in the military and deploy pretty constantly, so i was only home a few months at a time. now he tells me he would make my control arms and my axles for my shortened rear end, but hasnt and it has been about 3 months. i live in a different state now,and am currently deployed so it would be kind of hard hard to go and talk to him. u know i was all in to the "minitrucks" now i have got a truck in pieces and can not drive it. is this how this whole minitruck scene goes down, i give money and i get screwed???

Wow, Im sorry to here you've had such a horrible experience! I'd be pissed too if I were in you situation!
To answer your question, No. The minitruck scene is not all like that. Of course there are some total aasshole out there, sadly, you happened to be stuck with one, it sounds like.
You just have to find the good minitruckers that are in it for the lifestyle, for the passion! So are just in it to feel cool, you know what I mean? I think it is AWESOME that you want or wanted to get into the minitruck scene, and if you can get out to any shows, while your home, Im sure you will find that not everyone is like that. True 'minitruckers' teach one another like family. They take care of one another, and if for whatever reason they cant do what they said they would or what is asked of them then they will tell you straight up.
I've met, and talked to so many differnt people and when it comes to vehicles I would usually either get ignored, or talked down to, because I'm a woman. And by far minitruckers are the best about NOT treating me that way. I'll admit, I know some, but I dont know shit compared to 99.9% of the people that I have talked to on this forum and a few others, but for the most part everyone has been cool as f**k and helped me out. I'll also admit, I ask some pretty stupid questions for some pretty simple shit, but I don't know, so if I dont ask,, I'll never learn. But everyone has had patience with me, its really cool.
I've found that every lifestyle is ALWAYS, alsways, always going to have a few people that just really suck at life and are total dicks, but then you turn around, and there are so many more that will treat you like family. And really that what it's all about. Being aminitrucker is just a way of life, and an extension of your family. Please, PLEASE dont give up on it! Just get out there, build your ride, have fun, meet people, go to some shows, you'll see not all are like that.

thanks for the reply, i just had to vent. i'll be home mid june, so i think i'm going to get my truck out of storage, and all the pieces, and get it on the road. maybe after i get into it again maybe i'll meet some cool peeps!! thanks, laterz

the scene is definitely not like that. one person doing you wrong shouldn't represent everyone.

Thats why you get a contract wrote up. Also i always setup a payment method, some shops won't do that, but if they need the work they will compromise. if they shoot you an estimate, I'd pay a fourth of the estimate up front for materials. Since he has already hacked your ride up, I'd tell him to either re-imburse you the money, or give you whatever he bought with your money. Give out some tuff love and tell him you want what they promised for the money you gave them. Just my thought, don't pay to play nice.

i thought you were workin for eric and you saw how long that chevy was in there and still is and will never be done
