All depends, most factory tint is actually coloured glass.

if it is factory tinted..... it is tinted in the temper process which means it is made into the glass. that means if you have factory tint, and you dont want tint on your windows then you will have to change the glass no doubt about it. i work for safelite autoglass... http://www.safelite.com

looked into tha a couple years ago, you cant do it, gotta buy new glass. and in my case (pathfinder) untinted glass wasnt an option anywhere in n.america.

so im stuck with tinted rear windows.

you can try it... youll probly still be able to notice the scratch though... im not excactly sure what the scratch issue is though. id imagine you could try the paint on tint idea but its going to be much more noticeable if the'yre are any inconsistancies ( spelled a few words in this paragraph wrong... its late and im coughing up lungs over here)
