I am just curious what size steel you would suggest to use for z-ing a dodge dakots. i have heard 1/8th and 1/4.
do you have a welder that can handle 1/4"? how about 3/16"?
yea buddy of mine has a welder. I was thinking 1/4 is a bit much. 3/16 maybe good?
i used 3/16" for my gussets and used 1/8" to box in, you can see in my profile. different truck, same principle
thanks vamos. i like that. thats how im gonna do mine.

if you have the room and $$ for 1/4 inch its better to go overkill then later on deal with something tweaking but 3/16 will always work. if its a v8 i would do 1/4 just due to the extra weight torque but thats just me
1/8 is fine. thats what mine will be getting.
I use 1/8" or 10 gauge. Doesn't need anything thicker. If you overbuild, it is possible to create a stress riser with the overly thick plate on a thinner frame.
