so here is my dilemma, i bought a 91 chevy 1500 ext cab that was already bagged but needed a lot of rework, basically everything that was already done. i couldnt pass up the deal so i took it. so i go to dmv and the lady starts the transfer of title and tells me i need a smog first, so i pay the tax and whatever other b.s and leave. long story short, it didnt pass smog because of the evap test and something else. the tires are dry rotted and need to be changed, and im realizing that it was just shitty timing. i dont have the money or time to spend on it right now, i work 60 hours a week, have a new baby, and live in an apartment. so my question is, since the title i still have for the truck has the previous owners name on it, with my information that i filled out on the back, how can i sell it as is (buyer responsible for smog) without having a title to sign over? is this something that is possible or is dmv going to take a shit on it since technically i am responsible for smogging it?
