Ok, so ive bagged my first fullsize truck, its a 2003 Dodge ram 1500 Quad cab, with a 5.9l

I really havent had any experience with shock selection for a heavier full size truck. I want a shock that will be fairly stiff.

What are some shocks that you guys are running on your larger trucks? My local parts store is absolutely useless, because they cant give me any suggesgions.

I need something around the 13.5" area collapsed, and i would prefer it to have two eylet ends both 5/8"

How should i go about finding what i need? Can anyone suggest a line of shocks that are good for fullsize trucks?

Thanks

Taylor

Maybe look at edlebrock or doestech.I have had the doestech on my 1991 fullsize chev and they are a great shock with a really good warranty program if you have ant problems.I've heard that belltech's new streetsport shock is really good {i think that is the name of it}

any other suggesgions?

Out of curiousity.... How well would an air shock work on my truck?

Im trying to find a stiff shock in the right size, and its been difficult. Could i use an air shock, and just put enough pressure in it untill it felt right? or would it start to lift my truck before it worked?

I use Bilstein shocks on my stuff and all the vehicles I do. I'd check into them.

I use monroe shocks. i have the part number memorized but cant think of it! but they are for the rear of a 85 lebaron with a v6. they are 13 3/8 compressed and almost 21 extended. 3/8 bolts on both ends btw.

I got air ride tech 16 way adjustables on my blazer. I havent drove on them yet but i airred it up and all the way soft it was real cushiony and then on full stiff it was nice and firm. There a little expensive but i really really wanna be able to tune in my suspension and get it perfect so might wanna check them out just a thought.

Pick up the phone and call Steve Duck at RCD Suspension. They sell Bilstiens that are valved for bagged rides for a really good price. If you give Steve your info he will find something that will work for you from their lineup. He has 15 yrs in the shock business and is one of the nicest guys you will ever deal with. He is always there to answer my questions when needed, I can't say enough good things about the guy. Ask Bio max, he will tell you the same I'm sure. Good luck

we used fox shox on mine & they're awesome. i found an auction on ebay, (4) non res silver shocks for $200. i ended up selling 2 & making a good bit of my money back.

check ebay for the auction to see whats available then check w/ fox for the specs.
