98-03 s-10 auto headlights question

ok i need to know how to bypass this option i have unplugged the sensor and it did not change anything the stock passenger side speaker grill has a hole for the sensor but now i have the kaik billet ones and there is no hole for the sensor, ok for the question, my sensor is covered and it isnt relaying to the headlights during the day so my running lights are always on, what do I do so they arent? So How do I get my manual head-light swith to work instead of using the sensors at all?

when your truck is running press the dome override button 3 or 4 times. it will make a sound when your lights go out.

^^^this works, but if I remember right, you have to do it every time you turn on the truck.
