will a chevy 350 out of a 1984 chevy pickup work in my 1994 chevy truck as long as i put the heads from the 1994 motor on the 1984 motor and same with the intake??

the main thing to check is if the 84 has flat top or domed pistons. you'll have to compare them to yours. late model blocks (yours) usually come with dished pistons. if they are the same for some reason (i doubt it though) don't forget the fuel pump block off plate & remove the fuel pump pushrod. you'll also need the cam & lifters out of your 94 eng. also check to see if the pushrods are the same legnth.

the newer model heads wont work they have a diff bolt placement

am i better off just dropping the $1800 on a new crate motor for the 94?? like i said i already have the 84 and it would save some money if swapping the cam/lifters/heads and intake, but if the heads wont work, i'm kinda out of luck as i have to smog this vehicle and not having the centerbolt heads would tell the smog shop that it is an older motor

why not rebuild the motor you have now
