so on mazdas. there are two gauge types, ones with tachs and ones with out. I have one without a tach in my truck right now. I have another gauge with the tach. is it as simple as plug in and go? or how do you do this??? is one of the harness's needed to splice in to the stock and hardwire up the tach????

On my old mazda I did exactly what your talking about and it just plugged in. No modification to the harness was necessary. Mine was an 86 and the cluster was out of a 87 so dont know if that makes a diffrence or not.

I guess its worth a shot!

yes it works automatically, sometimes you are missing the hot wire for the clock but thats simple to fix.

the most important thing though is to MOVE THE SPEEDO CABLE. right now it runs out the center of a brace in the dash, you need to snake it back through and pull it out to the drivers side of the brace. while it is possible to put it together with it running through the center of the brace, it binds the cable and breaks within a mile or two.

Russ beat me too it, but exactly what he said. It plugs in, but the clock will have to be wired. And move the speedo.
