As I'm finally going to be getting my truck back together, i want to paint my engine block semigloss to freshen it up. Some has told me to use the old high heat rattle can, and I've looked into the por-15 type. what should i do that would be clean and better bang for the buck.

If you go the rattle can route, I recommend VHT. Its like $10 to the can, but it works awesome. Its the only stuff in a can I have used that doesn't come off when you get oil or coolant on it. It bakes on with heat, usually the first time you start it, but you can help it if you like. They only offer like 4 colors though.

Por15 is a nice coating too, and comes with some handy stuff to clean the engine with.

I've used both, and liked them both. But if I had to do it again I would use the VHT because its easier to apply. Or I had thought to use the VHT high heat primer, cure it with a propane heater, then spray with BC/CC.

What is VHT? and where can I get it?

VHT is high heat paint. I used it on the header for my honda. It scuffed a bit but never burnt or flaked off. I picked it up at the local auto parts store.

Thanks I'll search around for it
