I have a '94 Ranger that has 73,000 miles on the 4-cylinder engine. I have lost interest in this project and have been building a '92 box body. Both have the same 2.3L engines and manual tranny. The '92 has like a 170,000 miles. I was thinking about putting the '94 engine/tranny into the '92. Will I run into any problems with this? Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

As long as both engines are dual plug per cylinder it will work.

engine is a direct swap, use the trann from the stang tho.

Yeah, they both have the dual plug setup...they look identical. Why use a stang tranny? What's wrong with the perfectly good Ranger tranny I have?

Oh, and do I need to swap the ECU's or just leave them like they are?

He read box body and though it said fox body(which is a Mustang), I would strip both down to bare block and use everything from the 92 on the 94 block, it would be a perfect time to put a rear main seal in and check all the other gaskets while its out. The rear main seal might not be leaking now but its better to do it now than later after its all together and running.

o haha i coulda swore you said fox body. yea put all the 92 stuff on the 94 motor, even tho if there isnt anything wrong with the motor in the 92, y mess with it? it should have a roller camshaft.

lol I just want to use the whole '94 motor because I know it is in perfect running condition with only 73k miles on it. The '92 BOX has 170million miles on it and it has some oil leaks, etc.
