i just bought 2 qts of por 15 and was wondering on the prep on my chassis its got surface rust (was new metal) do i need to scuff it or stip it down or do i prime it or just spray directly onto the surface rust? and can it go over bondo or do i do that after the por 15(to smooth visible welds) also i was told it can be painted over but dont have to be i want it to stay black and was planning on leaving it alone and not topcoat...any info would be geeeerrrrreat the paint supply place had no clue thanks

por is some badass shit i believe you can paint over rust and never have a problem

they have all the info on there products on there site. www.por15.com get the metal ready they sell and use it get the surface rust off. then jsut brush or spray it on. it will fade out if you do not top coat it. i would put bondo on after wards since it chemically bonds to the metal, then do what ever top coat you desire.

I painted my whole frame with it. Its amazing. I sanded the frame all down to bare metal and then marine cleaned it rinsed, metal readyed it..let it sit for 45 min then rinsed again then blew it off and painted. you can paint or prime right over it and bondo or fiberglass also. I dont plan on topcoating my frame cuz its under the truck and wont get much UV rays....oh and dont get the shit on you, it will be there for bout a week!! good luck

Make SURE that you use some laytex gloves because if you don't it takes a couple of weekds for it to come off your skin. I know from experience, lol!

I used the Sterling Silver topcoat on my frame. My frame was really clean and rust free so I just clean it up and brushed it all on. It took a long time to do but I'm happy with the end result. It's not suppose to scratch but it does. Not bad for a daily driver.

i have found that if you notice some on you, thinner will take it off, but it has to be fresh and not dried lol.

has anyone else actually used POR on a rusted frame, is it still recommended to knock off the rust
