95 s-10 already bagged but most likely gonna do a complete backhalf from the firewall back... i plan on laying rock or getting damn close but this will be my first bodydrop and i dont feel like fucking it up so i figure ill see if anyone has time to give me some direction. i dont have a shop so its gonna be another garage floorjob. first off what size steel should i use for my rails and whats the cheapest way to make some sort of frame bench... or anything so i know its going to be flat and true. a list of the things i need and in what order i need to do things would help alot so if you have time and maybe even some pictures or tips i would greatly appreciate it... thanks in advance...
we built a frame bench out of 2x3 and some 1x1 with some steel plate, casters and jacks for around 300 bucks, as far as material for the chassis, my toyota is 3x3 1/4 inch wall, most use 2x3 1/4 wall
it really all depends on what you are wanting to do with it and your design...how crazy you going to go and what not so its hard to say really..prolly 2 sticks of 2x3x1/4 and a welder, lots of measurements, cutoff saw or something similar...lots you need really lol...
I built mine on the lever garage floor. Worked fine
my rails are 2X3 1/4" wall and I only stockfloored my truck under the cab, i have the stock rear clip. I built my tranny x-member out of 2X2 1/8" wall.
its gonna lay body and be able to go low 10's in the quarter so it has to be pretty strong... you tell me... its gonna have 10 point cage and all that soooo yea thats pretty much the master plan...
Theres no need for 1/4" thick tubing especially with a 10 pt cage. Do 2x3x3/16". I built a frame table out of 4x4x1/8" rusty square tubing that was free then got it all leveled up in our downhill shop floor. Spend alot of time stabilizing the front clip and securing it to the frame table level and straight. Make alot of body measurements before disassembly and plan way ahead on your ideas. Good luck because its alot of damn work. And post some pics when you get started and people will give you advice as you need it.
