im running RE-8s on mine and i get good lift and ride quality, you do have to trim out the spring pocket a good bit plus i got my bags mountted on my cups in a offset so it pushed the bag to the spindel more to gain some clearance. on my first dually i also ran firestone 2600's with a 350 and i got good lift on it also. this dually i have now has 454 gas burner in it..
and i dont have shocks upfront eithier
i think i have pics in my profile

I did the same thing on mine. It made me a nervous wreck to cut the spring pocket like that. But after a little torching and grinding it came out pretty nice. I had to offset the lower cups too. haha.

i wasnt to nervous, cause when i bagged my s-10 and used 2600's on it we had to cut a ass load of the cup out and ground it down, but we laid a nice fat bead on the inside of the cup where it met the cross member. thinking of changing my rear set up and running a paralle 4 link and watts link with bags over axle.. or may just add a watts link to my current 2 link set up..

How are you keeping the rearend centered with your 2 link setup?

thats my next step. i have my 2 link set up on it right now. i'm thinkin of putting a pan hard bar on it to keep mine centered.

Might want to consider a watts link, in my opinion it is the best route and not much more work.

on my first dually i had a panhard bar, and i hated it it pulled the rear end way to much thru the travel of the suspension. on this one i have the end of the 2 link bars connected with a 2x2 piece of square tube .25 wall. and also have my shocks mounted on that also. but im planning to redo it and going with a watts link, way more efficient than a panhard and not as agravating getting the rear end true center when layed out and you dont look like your dog legging going down the road..
