i need help. before i start in hinesight it all looks clear to me. but im worried about my steering column and shift linkage(auto).. will they need to be modified or touched at all? i have a 5.0

and how much trouble is it to pull my dash and a/c stuff out.... dash will go back in but a/c will stay out.

any other big issues? i know about the lower rad. hose problem.

thanks,

I went 2.5" SFBD on my 88, and my steering shaft hit my upper control arm. I had to notch the arm a bit, but it clears find after that.

hey toreadorxlt.... you are my idol... lol ive been watching your build on fsc since the start and you been an inspiration. oh and thanks for the tech article on disc brakes on the rear, u made it easy, that is one of my projects during my build.

so the steering will fall with the cab? and u had no problem with linkage?

thanks,

I think i notched the frame for the shaft as well the more I think about it. It has been a while.

But yes, the steering shaft will fall with the truck. If you wanted to get tricky, you could relocate the column mount on the firewall higher, and its really easy to section some length out of GM columns. But you should be fine just notching the UCA and frame.

only picture I have of said area.

thanks, dosnt look like too much of a hassle. its easier for me to notch some metal than to section a column.... uve helped me a ton....

your are "low88" on fullsizechevy.com right?

yup, I am low88 on FSC.

just stockfloor it, its so easy on these trucks. Go 2.5in and no cuts to the floor. i didnt have any problems with my steering shaft at all

I wouldn't even make the attempt to cut floor one of these now.

they do have a point. Seems like a bigger pain in the ass to weld all of those sheetmetal filler pieces in. Stockflooring mine wasnt too hard.
