flakes question

i heard that if i shoot flakes in the clear it will weaked the paint how tru is this also i am painting my truck red and i need help deciding what kind of flakes to go with a red to match the paint or silver flakes just wanna know what u guys perfer

I dont mess with metal flake, so the only tip I have is if your using PPG products mix your flake in DBC500. Then spray your clear over that.

flake does not meaken the paint and if you are using basecoat red then use red flake on top of that or use kandy red and use silver flake under the kandy to turn it red
