ok, so i bought some mothers mag and aluminum polish from work today (i meant to get the billet polish but i wasnt paying attention) to polish my steering wheel and shifter. even though, like a dumbass, i put it in my truck and the shit melted, i still used it. i applied small circles with a diaper cloth until black residue just like the directions said but it left ABUNCH of tiny swril scratches on my horn button. should i have used it or would the consistency mattered? anybody got any suggestions on getting the swirls out?

Polishing Billet by hand can be tough . Now if the horn button was dulling those scratches most likely were in the wheel before you polished it just could not tell. The polish just made them more noticeble .
