How do you do it?

Im trying to fit a tall motor in a SFBD truck, and the rough measurements are showing a tight fit, so how much room do you guys usually leave below your oil pan? I noticed a lot of high end trucks mounting their gas and air tanks really close to the ground when laid out, but I dont want to set my oil pan so close that I have to worry about it.

I have 1/2" under mine. I've got dents on the bottom from rocks, but no leaks. Its plated with 16 gauge.

mine on my crew cab is about a 1/2" away and its cracked lol

About 3/8....Now my tranny pan haha thats a different story maybe 3/16

the tranny pan and oil pan on my caddy are plated with 1/4 in steel,they both lay flat on the ground while dragging.so far not much sign of wearing thru but i dont drag at high speeds either.
