was wondering what all motors are a derect swap for the 92 toyota pickup and will a nissan hard body motor bolt right up ? just picked up the toy and had a blown motor

20r 22r 22re, there are kits to bolt other motors in there such as 2rz and 3rz and 350 chevy motors.

if you use a nissan engine for example you have to go thru the hassle of mating the old wiring harness with the nissan harness (assuming you are using a efi type engine) if you go the V8 route then you hafta deal with the extra weight issue, engine mounts, cooling ie larger radiator then routing a whole new exhaust and by that time the amount of money spent would be more than buying a stock replacement crate long block

thanks for the info just bought a new project and has a blown motor not planing on goin with the v8 becdouse of clearance issues

I saw an awesome intake for the sbc's the other day at work in the new issue of street rodder we are doing at work. it is a marine type intake with dual side draft carbs that sit about even with the valve covers, its a pretty damn good way to get around some clearance issues with the hood.

^ Those are cool.

You could always run an LT or LS motor with a dry sump and a 5 speed. You can get them under 23" tall. Believe me, I have it all planned out.
