ok so my buddy has a lightning that is bagged on 22s. it still has leafs though. we want to do the link bars with the bags on the front bars. so a couple questions.... first off i was going to mount the front of the straight bar to the stock leaf hanger, but should i move it forward a little so i can use a longer bar. i just seems like it would be awfully short.
...second ( and this is the part where im going to get shit on probably.) ok keeping in mind that im just helping out a friend and dont want to spend the rest of my life rebuilding the whole truck.... right inside the frame rails in front of the axle is where the air tank is mounted. on the other side is a metal box with the air compressors mounted. the gas tank is toward the back of the frame. (all under the bed) so i cant run two angled bars forward without moving all that stuff. i couldnt even run them backwards, (not like i would anyways) what im wondering is could i do a three link style with a cross bar like from the factory on an expedition. with the bar just going perpendicular to the frame from behind the axle. thats the only way i can think of without relocating everything. i hope that makes sense.

soo... are you asking if you can use a 2link with a panhard bar?

yea that sounds and looks like just a 2-link with a sway bar to me.

Can you not fit some sort of upper link that runs parallel with the 2-link bar? Even just a single bar or a wishbone setup. I just have a 3-link on mine and have my gas tank in the stock location and my kinetik battery and valves on the opposite side and it fits fine. Then you can put in a sway bar, panhard or a watts link

edit: as a side note, does he not have problems with his comps overheating having them in a box like that?

a 2 link is mounted solid on the axle from what i understand, ive never actually done one, but thats not what i would do. i guess just a 3 link is what im talking about with a panhard bar, so yeah i guess that makes sense. I still think i should move the front hangers forward, it just seems like the straight bars with the bags on them would be too short, any thoughts? thanks.

KP Komponets makes a kit. Although my truck is a ranger I have my lower bars connected to the stock front leaf hangers with the bags on the bars and I get alot of lift. My lower bars are 25 1/2 from center to center, if it is tight on top you could use a wishbone that would only have one connection point on the frame/crossmember

cool thanks man. ill check it out. yeah it just seems like the bags would be way close to the front pivot in order to not hit the wheels and i just thought that wasnt good. but yeah that wishone sounds like a good idea i didnt think about that (obviously lol.) thanks again.

My bag are as close to the front pivot as i could get them, it produces more lift not really any problems.
