anyone know of any laid out 80s toyota pickups running on veggie oil? theyre expensive but it would be sweet to have a green minitruck. been watching videos on youtube on how to filter the oil, it seems pretty easy.

i don't know & have no experience with an internal combustion engine, but our jet car runs like sh*it with it...at least a 75-100 mph slower difference & it is way too thick to let the augmenter (afterburner) light off. there's no veg oil in it, but i'm talking about production e25-jp4 biodiesel... it gums up every Ps3 & fuel control line when it's cold...even with a 100 degree precatalyst on it.

jet engines burn EVERYTHING including used motor oil & if it won't burn biodiesel...........

As soon as I can find a toyota diesel at a reasonable price I'm building a biodiesel mini truck.

i would never run veggie oil in a diesel engine. Bio diesel however is a different story. A common misconception is that veggie oil and bid diesel is the same, its not. Bio Diesel is made from veggie oil. Thats what i do for a living we go to restaurants and getthe used oil, and use a lengthy process and turn it into bio diesel. We make a bout 2200 gallons a week. It still will gel when the temperature drops but it is nothing like veggie oil. Veggie oil is extremely high in free fatty acids which will ruin your injectors over time plus u have to start it on regular fuel for it to run. So this means two tanks with heaters and what not. IMO thats alot of hassle. But put a diesel in the truck and run BIO by all means. One of our customers has a nissan mini with a nissan diesel in it. One day i want to put a 6.2 or 6.5 diesel in my fullsize

its expensive to buy a truck that is already a diesel, but diesel motors by comparison are pretty cheap. you can get a 4 cyl turbodiesel with relatively low mileage for under 1500 with a transmission. find a broken toyota with a bad motor and pop the motor in. as long as you arent so concerned with having a toyota branded motor in a toyota (isuzu makes nice rwd diesels for example, no electronics AT ALL just need to put a pump inline on the tank and change a few lines, build some body mounts, adapt the driveshaft)

compare that to some of the crack induced inflated prices for old ass diesel mini trucks. 4-6k for a rustbucket would ruin your investment return.
