Sorry if this is in the wrong forum...didn't really know where to put it.

anyways, i'm looking for the material to make body mounts/body lifts. This is for a custom application and they will be cut down and shaped so I can't really use a kit. I'm looking for the large piece that can be cut down to size. I've seen it online but can't find it again. The type of material isn't a big concern, just something fairly solid and durable that can be used for a bushing.

how big (tall) is the biggest piece you need?

Delrin is what your looking for. can be machined easly

http://www.mcmaster.com/ you can order any size and hardness(durometer) polyurethane from this site. this is where i get my poly for 4links/motor mounts/cabmounts. not to mention anything else i might need.

1.5" would probably be about the tallest.

I need about 10-12" of 3" diameter and 10-12" of 2" diameter. mcmaster.com has what i'm looking for, but i was really hoping for something a bit cheaper. Those poly balls would actually be perfect but a bit expensive as well.

Delrin is probably the best bet. Try Aircraft spruce.

Its going to be expensive regardless.

I've started using horse trailer padding for actual bodymounts.

i know it sounds backyard as hell, but they didn't (at the time) make a body lift kit for my buddy's pathfinder, so he used a bunch of hockey pucks. they had about the same density as the stock bodymounts & they were easy to put on the lathe & mill down. at first i laughed at him, but it actually worked quite well...plus they're only $2-3 each. they're also about 1.5" - 2" tall if i remember right.

I have actually thought about the hockey puck idea...and i'm seriously considering it.

The bushings I am making are for my daily driver. They are a dealer only item and they run about $400 for the set of 4. I'm not trying to be a cheap ass, but the car is probably only worth $1500 and is pushing 200k miles...probably not going to last forever. On top of that, I can't justify that much for 4 bushings.

Now I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to spend a couple hundred and still have to make my own.
