me and a friend are trying to figure out what rear end we can use to narrow to put on a bagged and bagged and bodydropped d50. we have acccess to the stock d50 rear ends, mazda, nissan, datsun and a few others. so can anyone point me in the direction who can cut and respline the axles?

btw....we both want to keep them 6lug

get dave to cut the housing and get some axles from moser is your best option with the stock rearend or get moser to do it all. Instead of using other stuff and making it work just use the factory. Don't make things harder then it has to be.

he says mosier wont cut any of those.

Ford Courier/ Old Mazda B2000 axles are WAY narrow. So are the 68-72 Datsun 521s. What width do you need? I have my 521 axle in the side yard, and I could go measure it out for you...

Cutting your housing down and having new axles made would be nice, but I'd imagine it's very expensive, compared to adapting the brake lines and having a new driveshaft made...

They may not cut them but they should be able to make new ones. Is the pumpkin centered on that rear? If not could you use the shorter side on the opposite side and just get one new axle made?

the pumpkin is offset a tad.

the prblm with a courier rear end is i cant find brake drums for it.

fathead, josh doesnt want to do a rear end that he cant find or get brake parts for

and josh called moser and he said they cant do a mazda rear end or sumthin so im just going off of what he said...i have not called them my self

call em and ask em if they can do "custom" ones for your rear. i dont know why there is such a big difference, surely its the same as some domestic axle. spline wise and all.

try rockauto.com for parts.

If you're already customizing everything, just convert it to discs. You could use Isuzu Rodeo/ Amigo, Toyota 4Runner, or probably even 99-up Silverado rotors and calipers, and just make brackets that either bolt to the axle flange or weld straight to the axle tube.

Or, if you REALLY want to spend some money, go with a 9" ford and have custom axles made with a 6 lug, with brake rotors to match...

I did a quick measurement on my Datsun 521 axle last night- 53" from hub to hub. The wheels were still on, so this is an approximate measurement, but it should be pretty close. Hope that helps!
