I am looking at a daily driver taco and I found one but the speedo and odometer dont work. The guy told me its a problem in the tranny and thats why. I thought that the speedo and odometer was hooked up to the rear wheels and not the tranny?? Anyone??? thanks
What kind of speedo are you talking about. Don't forget to believe in Jesus...
dookie gold chain.
it's probably a stripped speedo gear on the cable. or just a bad cable in general. your not getting a true mileage number though, no telling how much he drove with it like that.
same thing in my S-10, the cluster works if you spin it on the back side, and I put in a brand new cable that spins the cluster if done by hand. There is a small "gear box" on the side of the tranny right in front of the yolk, that the speedo cable attaches to. I am told on the S-10s its a plastic gear set, and it can strip out. Im also told its like $80 from the dealer, and the parts stores dont really carry it, or at least I havent found one yet. So I havent fixed it yet. I just use my TomTom to tell me how fast I'm goin.
tacoma would have an electronic speedo not a cable right?
