My trans is noisy in 5th gear,or when you let off the gas. I think it is a W55 trans,5 seed manuel,88 SR5,2wd truck. Shifts fine,does not grind or pop out of gear? Figure it's just wear,is there any additives that will help??

Mine does too. Its just wear. Needs new gears.

sounds like input shaft bearing... I have never seen worn gears,usually replace those with shift probs or grinds between shifts or pops out of gear... Imo toyotas and honda 5 spd trans are bullet proof (as long as there not abused)

try changing your fluid to synchromesh fluid
gm makes it and uses it in all of their manual trans,i sell it to ricer honda guys all the time and they love it!

i thought honda manual trans took 10w30 engine oil? well thats what honda told me..

i thought honda manual trans took 10w30 engine oil? well thats what honda told me.. They have MTF or u can use 10-30 5-20 works anything thicker destroys them.. toyota uses 80-90 gear oil.. I have rebuilt tons of honda and toyota trans they dont like anything but whats recomended...
