I have heard you can put a 2 dr fuel tank out of a stock blazer in a 4 dr blazer, with a little modification. I was wondering if this has any specific years that it works with or just any 2 dr will fit. I have a 95 blazer and the fuel tank is coming out of an 89. If anyone knows if this will work or if you might have some pics of what mods need to be done it would be a huge help in getting this truck bagged. Thanks in advance!

i think it would work smoother if you used the same generation tank. but the 89 should work just might be a little more fabricating involved.

Agree'd. Pretty common modification back when I first started bagging my blazer, I actually bought a 2 door tank myself at one point but never installed it. Like Brandon said, I would think you would run into less trouble by going with the 95+model... but I may be wrong. I picked my tank up for like 40 bucks.Good luck, mike

I am going to get the tank through a trade, I have a scrap blazer and I have pretty much stripped everything off of it, down to even a rear quarter off of it, no interior, cut wires, but he wants to trade 200 and the tank for the blazer shell! But if I'm going to run into problems with it I would rather just keep the blazer incase I need parts!

You know what, upon further thinking (sorry it's been a long while since I was wanting to do this swap lol).. I think I actually purchased a 1st gen tank myself, because I was assured by some guys at another blazer site that it would work. I wish I could be more certain, but I think you'd be fine with it. Grrrrr, I can't remember yesterday much less 5 years ago.

i put a 1st gen tank into my 2nd gen 4door, i had to cut out my stock sending unit mount and transplant that into the 1st gen tank to work. other then that, all i had to do was extend all the lines and make a way to hold the tank up.

Thanks or the info, i knew about the sending unit but i can fab pretty much anything. lol Good to know i can use it.That will save some money for now.

you wont have to cut anything up, the 95 sending unit uses the same mounting technique, only the 96+ tanks have a different style because they are OBD II
