spark plugs arcing

I have a 63 bel air that I put a chevy 305 engine in. My problem is that when I put this motor in I broke the distributor cap and rotor, I replaced this and spark plugs, wires distributor cap and rotor cap, now i have a skip because the number 1 spark plug arcs. I can see this arc at night when it gets dark, I have put silicone on the plugs and that does not seem to help. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? It is in time also.
