Ive got a 92 mustang thats a daily driver that I wanna primer myself and eventually take to get painted. Im most likely getting it from napa, i just need to know what type to get for my application. Im not taking down to bare metal, just sanding the existing paint and primering on top of that. Id like to build it up some so I can block the car down smooth, and I wanna be able to drive it primered till i get it painted. I just get so confused on the types of primers i need to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

waste of time really. unless your gona do the body work little by little, i wouldnt even bother. take the time and do it rigth b4 you paint it. results will be much better.

if you want any sort of filling quality your prob. going to have to go with feather fill. unless you use a sealer you are (like james said) wasting your time. primer is porous and doesnt seal from the weather that well. most people that "roll" in primer are using a primer sealer, or straight basecoat, or regular primer but keep re-priming it. Most the guys have wind up sanding most if it off and re-priming before they actually paint it. Just rock what you got now untill your actually ready to paint.

I wish i could just rock whats on there but it looks hidious. it was originally a black car and the guy before me did his own two tone with silver spray paint on top above the body line. The finish is terrible and none of the trim or even the sunroof was taped off, just the windows I have to sand all that siver paint off and wanted the car to be one color, flat black, for a while till i save up to have in painted gloss black again.
