Hey guys, I just picked up this 1986 C30 dually. 105K miles on the 350, 2nd owner and body is in great shape besides being filthy.

I'm getting all the mechanical and maintenance kinks worked out right now (it was sitting for 2-3+ years in a field). But the main thing is getting this thing dropped. Being a returning student (former VW tech ), my budget is pretty low (I know you guys love hearing that). This will be a weekend tow/fun rig but I'm not looking to bag or body drop it at this time. I'm also renting so I only have a small garage but no welder, fab stuff or tons of time. If I had all that I would bag it in a heartbeat.

Basically I want to do something simple/bolt on for now to get out of the nose bleed section. After lots of reading, so far I'm looking at Western Chassis 3" drop spindles, cutting a bit off the coils, and the Western Chassis rear flip and C-notch kit. But the more I read on the flip kit is that my diff will be hitting the bed.

What kind of drop can I net with drop hangers and taking out a few leafs? I don't plan on going any lower than 5" in the front, so I'm also wondering about the rear, at 8" drop, sitting lower than the front. What do you guys think? Rear is at 35.5" from ground to fenderwell, front is 34.75"

Here are some pics of the old girl:

shackle/hanger should net you ~4"....then you can just do the spindle up front for a 3/4 drop.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I'm seeing a DJM and Belltech shackle/hanger kit, anybody else's I should be looking at?
