I gotta take my truck to get smog'd pretty soon and their is one thing that stands out to me that im thinking will hinder me passing, on my 96 taco my canister is right over my open wheel well and the hose that was coming from the bottom of the canister got ripped out from my tire hitting it when riding low, will it mess up my chances of smogging, what is the point of this hose? pics:

If they don't notice, you're cool. My charcoal canister is hidden under the battery tray, so you can't even see it. They didn't even ask. If they do notice, you have to fix it.

Try to find a no pass no pay style test only.

I'm anxious/nervous, I gotta take my truck in today to get it smogged, the only worry I have now is the check engine light is on and I have no idea why, i hope they dont insta-fail me for it, i'm hopping they can look past that if it's something small.

You can't pass with a check engine light on. Even if you take the bulb out they can tell its on when they hook the computer up. They might tell you why its on though. I have heard some people getting the system reset at an auto shop or something, and it not coming back on for a while, but thats risky too. Best bet is to figure out the issue and fix it.

maybe someone could clarify for me.... at a test only shop do they have cameras that look down at your engine bay? because i want to put a weber carb on my toyota. i can get around the visual inspections just as long as i can pass the sniffer test im good. but if there is something there taking pictures, im screwed. motor swapping every other year it is. lol.

I didnt pass smog but good news is he told me (and showed me) the reason my check engine light is on is because intake air temperature sensor wasnt hooked up (i have a k&n intake). So all i have to do is go to a pick a part and get the connector and the actual sensor that goes in the intake, and the rubber gromet around it.

I've never seen a shop with cameras. Its up to the technician to find anything that is illegal. So if you have someone that will pass you on the visual with illegal parts, as long as you pass at the pipe you are fine. But you can get a ticket for that Weber if a cop sees it. I was warned about a week ago by my neighbor (a cop).
