Is it possible to drill out the check valve or something where I can use the leader hose but add an external check valve? I think the check valve in the hose is sticking and causing my pump to blow fuses. If not, where can I get new leader hoses quickly? SSD.com says they're sold out.

If you have a "bearing and hydraulic" shop or fluid power shop locally they can make you up a leader hose.

I had one made for my engine driven compressor. 3/8" ID teflon-lined stainless steel braided line with pipe thread on one end and hydrualic line crush style tapered fitting (JIC) on the end. It was $60, kinda expensive. but higher quality and it was available right then. Those kind of stores also sell check valves.

Good luck.

Tonight I took the leader hose off the compressor and turned them on. The compressors ran fine, but with the hose on it would immediately blow the fuse. I attached the leader hose to my shop air compressor and tried to blow air through it and it wouldn't pass air through in either direction. I played with it with a screw driver pushing the check valve in and out and squirted a drop of oil in there. It started working and I tested it out with the shop compressor again. It's working for now so I put it back on the compressor. Everything is working now and not blowing any fuses. Damn check valve was just stuck! Hope this helps someone else in the future.

Sounds like your check valve is stuck open. You can stack another check valve on the line and leave the factory check valve in place.

The reason the fuses are blowing is because the open (non-checking) check valve is not holding the pressure back, causing an amp spike on restart, which in turn blows the fuse.

The viar check valves suck ass. We've had nothing but problems with the leader hoses valves, and now the replacement valves that lance sent me to add on are also crapping out on my customers. Get a different brand and add it on to the end of the hose. Lance told me that having the old stuck open valve inline with the new valve wont cause any restrictions. I wish Viair would get this mess fixed.
